Fishing report update for Monday May 6

This past weekend found many boats experienced much slower action for Salmon along the South shore. It seems like the nicer water and big mother load of Salmon is over along the NY of the Niagara Bar. Rest assured the good fishing will come back very soon. But this a reminder of how having a NY fishing license can open up additional angling opportunities throughout the season.

There are Salmon & Trout scattered in the Canadian waters it has just been slower then what we were spoiled with previously. Alewives will be in shallow spawning soon too! Spoons & cut bait ( herring strips) along with flies are producing. Carbon 14, Green Glow Alewife, Lazer Spook & Seasick Wadler have been great spoons recently.

Congrats to Owen Hoover who on the weekend, landed a 25.44 lb Salmon to take the lead in the St Catharines Game & Fish Association Spring Salmon Derby

Speaking of fishing in NY, the early Catch & Release season there in NY has been very good too. Drop shot, tubes & jigging spoons working good now.

Perch fishing is still pretty good on Lake Erie. The spawn is nearly done and the big schools will be scattering. A few boats have been out looking for Walleye too.

Speaking of Walleye, more zones in southern Ontario will open up this coming weekend.

It's a great time now too to get the kids out for sunfish, crappie, catfish, carp & freshwater drum. Enjoy the great weather that's coming!
